Pipeline Development Council

The Pathology Roundtable was established by the Association of Pathology Chairs (APC) in 2012 to serve as a forum for sharing and discussing issues in common. The Pathology Roundtable is comprised of 14 member organizations (in alphabetical order: AANP, ABP, ACLPS, ADASP, AMP, APC, API, ASC, ASCP, ASIP, CAP, NAME, SPP, USCAP).

One focus of the Pathology Roundtable is improving the pipeline of students entering careers in pathology. The Pipeline Development Council (PDC) was formed by the Pathology Roundtable in 2018 and organized into multiple working groups made up of organizational representatives of the Pathology Roundtable. Listed below are resources compiled and curated by the PDC's working groups.

Published Literature: A growing collection of publicly available resources (“publications”) of peer-reviewed papers and other articles, books, and web-based content on:

  • Pathology Career Development Opportunities
  • Pathology Workforce Trends
  • The Future of Pathology Practice

Financial and Peer Support:one-stop "shopping" matrix of funding and networking resources from among the Pathology Roundtable and other organizations, including conference travel, poster, and presentation awards, research grants, and publication awards.

Medical Education: A preview of survey results on how pathology is currently taught in medical schools. Pathology educators from half of the medical schools in the U.S. responded to the survey in 2018. The working group is currently analyzing the complete data and will be publishing a report on the state of pathology education.
