PhD Program Leaders
Purpose
Members of AAPath Council and the Research Committee have discussed with the American Society for Investigative Pathology (ASIP) how we can better serve graduate programs in pathology or multi-disciplinary programs in the biomedical sciences. As a result of these discussions, AAPath would like to identify Vice Chairs for Research and PhD Program Leaders who will form an ad hoc committee that will report to AAPath Council and, based on input of the committee members, may develop into a standing committee or section of the AAPath. The goals of establishing the committee include identifying approaches and best practices to ensure the pipeline of predocs into PhD programs and postdoctoral fellows into pathology faculty research laboratories, ideally to pursue careers in pathology departments, and developing PhD faculty to successfully interface with clinical faculty.
Appointment Process
- Chairs may appoint up to two (2) appropriate faculty to this committee, including themselves.
- Appointment of these members does not have any associated cost or impact on departmental dues.
