Association of Pathology Chairs Leadership Programs

APC's Pathology Leadership Academy

The Association of Pathology Chairs’ Pathology Leadership Academy (PLA) is designed to build and strengthen leadership skills and knowledge in future leaders of academic Pathology and Laboratory Medicine departments and to provide a preview of a potential future phase of one’s academic career.

Feedback from past PLA attendees:

  • Wonderful and inspiring program. It allowed opportunities for introspection.
  • Truly unique in that we heard from numerous chairmen how they deal with real-world issues.
  • I’ve never attended a conference where I hung on each word of each lecture, and each lecture was better than the next. Wonderful opportunities to talk to people with lots of experience committed to mentorship.

NEW APC Pathology Leadership Fellows Program

Building on the lessons of APC's Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Program (a mentored micro-incubator for future academic pathology leaders) and APC's Pathology Leadership Academies (live 1- to 2-day small group workshops on fundamental leadership topics), the Leadership Development & Diversity Committee is launching the new APC Pathology Leadership Fellows (APLF) program to cultivate leadership potential and opportunities by providing experiences and education that accelerate understanding and competency in the skills required for academic administration.

The APLF program is suitable for mid-to-senior level faculty (assistant, preferably associate professor level faculty) pursuing vice chair, director, chief, or chair roles. This program will admit a maximum of 25 participants (excludes Pathology Leadership Academy-only attendees), so the application process is competitive. No more than two participants will be selected from any one APC member department in good standing (current dues paid).
