Chief Residents Group
The Chief Residents Group was established in 2025 to provide a forum for current Pathology Chief Residents to exchange ideas, information, and resources. This group aims to provide support, foster communication, and promote a network of individuals experiencing a similar leadership role as Chief Resident. The members of the Chief Residents Group shall be current Pathology Chief Residents who hold roles and responsibilities including, but not limited to: clinical leader, administrative leader, resident advocate, schedule coordination, and program oversight. Eligibility for the group is designated by AAPath GMEAS members, who are the Coordinators, Administrators, and Managers of GME programs training Residents and subspecialty Fellows in Pathology as accredited by the ACGME, as well as non-accredited programs.

Chief Residents Listserv
AAPath GMEAS members are able to add and remove Chief Residents as they rotate through the role. GMEAS members, after informing your current/outgoing Pathology Chief Residents that they will be added/removed from the listserv, please use the below button to add and remove Chief Residents to the group/listserv. If there is more than one Chief Resident, please submit separately using the same sign-up link for each individual. They will remain subscribed to the listserv until a year after serving as Chief Resident. We are seeking email addresses that are associated with Chief Residents so that profiles can be created within our database system. Please DO NOT provide group email addresses, e.g. “[email protected]”. If you are currently in the Chief Residents Group and would like to be removed, please email AAPath Staff with a request to be removed at: [email protected].
Chief Residents Listserv Guidelines
The Chief Residents Group Listserv is not moderated, so please keep the below thoughts and policies in mind:
- Some ideas for what to share on the listserv include: what is working well in your programs, seeking advice on addressing challenges, discuss the unique aspects of leading a pathology program, share resources for opportunities for your trainees (e.g., applications for awards, grants, away rotations, exam/licensing timelines, study resources, etc.), and other, relevant thoughts, ideas, information, or resources.
- Please keep your posts professional and respectful. Avoid sharing information that could be compromising for you, your colleagues, or faculty. This listserv is hosted by the AAPath, and monitored by AAPath Staff and the current Chair of the GMEAS (Pathology Program Coordinators) and PRODS (Pathology Residency Program Directors) Sections.
